Left 4 Dead - Remote Rcon with HLSW

Need to rcon your Left 4 Dead server remotely? Half Life Server Watch (HLSW) is just what you need ...

The current version of HLSW is v1.3.0.6b and it runs on Windows 2000 and XP (see HLSW system requirements).

Once it is installed you will need to register an email address and password.

Once HLSW is running simply enter the IP of your server with the port:

Type in the Rcon password and click Test. You should see Status: OK.

Click the Console tab and then type in your Rcon command in the field above and then click Send.

And there you have it! A really nice way to administer your server without having to connect a game client to it ... as you can see (below) HLSW also gives you a nice summary of your server details too:

I followed your guide for setting up the ubuntu server and that was great, thanks! But for some reason the rcon password always brings back failed for me. I have googled and searched forums but haven't found a way to make it work yet. I have the rcon_password in the server.cfg and am typing it correct.

Sorry for the slow reply I obviously need to change my Blogspot setting to notify me of comments ...

Are you trying to use rcon with HLSW or directly in the console of the server itself?

I can't click on "test", the button doesn't activate when write any password.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Have you typed your server IP and port number into the HLSW tool as per the screenshots on my blog - without the IP and port number the tool cannot test the connection.

I did, also reinstalled the HLSW and now it works!

weird.
